If the tooth fairy will not be making a visit to you in the middle of the night, then there is no fun in loosing a tooth. Not only is it embarrassing, it can be difficult to eat, talk, and its loss can cause your other teeth to move and drift out of alignment.
There are a few ways to replace missing teeth, including full dentures, if all of your teeth are missing, and partial dentures, if some of your teeth are missing. Both of these appliances are removable. A Bridge is a non-removable fixed appliance that can replace missing teeth and looks natural. However, it is necessary, unfortunately, to drill down the neighboring teeth in order to have it fit.
Implants are a natural looking alternative to replace missing teeth. Implants are desirable due to their appearance, strength, and having the ability to stop bone loss. And possibly most important, with implants, it is not necessary to drill down neighboring teeth. The fabrication of an implant is a two-part process. Dr. Gant will refer you to an Oral Surgeon or a Periodontist, who specializes in placing the implant. After the appropriate healing time, Dr. Gant then will work with her laboratory to make a custom implant crown that will securely fit on top of the implant, which will look like your natural teeth.
